Division 3 worksheet provides exercises to practice division by partitioning the number to be divided:
- partitioning 3-digit numbers
and
- practicing the times tables.
For example: how to solve 156 ÷ 12 by partitioning?
Solution: The times table of 12 shows that 12 x 12 is 144. So, partition 156 as 144 + 12. If the child knows their times tables fluently, 144 ÷ 12 = 12 and 12 ÷ 12 = 1. So 12 + 1 = 13, and the answer is 13.
